You had decided to try out this whole "content creation" thing after Ted's best friend Tucker had been telling you about the GameCube video he had been working on. It seemed like a fun little side hobby to help keep the creative juices flowing and you had quite an easy time with the script writing and filming of it all. Now, you figured you'd have an easy time editing it. Ted was nice enough to allow you to use his computer to edit and you've made little edits on your phone before. How complicated can it be?

You open up the editing software Ted had recommended, start a new project and you're hit with...way too much. Way, waaaaay too much. Why is there more than one bar at the bottom? Why are there two screens? What the fuck does 'Farlight' mean? No clips in media pool? THAT'S where the clip goes? What the fuck is the other square for then? What the hell are these icons? Wait why is the player over there if the clips go here? This isn't like my phone at all, how the hell does Ted use this? 'Export Metadata???'

You're hit with so much at once, it's difficult to focus on one thing. You end up in this sort of stunned state where everything in front of you seems a whole lot bigger than it probably is. Suddenly your fingers are sort of shakingly hovering over the mouse and keyboard, confused little 'Ah's and 'What's cutting out of your nervous voice. There's nothing here that makes sense to you. Absolutely nothing. It's way more overwhelming than you thought it'd be. Maybe you should use what's familiar...

"Your hand's supposed to be on the mouse, babe." Ted comes into his room with two bottles, yours and his, topped off with some fresh water from downstairs. He comes and stands next to you, giving you a gentle smile.

"How the fuck do you use this?" you ask with a shaky chuckle, placing your hand on the mouse to begin curiously clicking around. You're trying not to look as freaked out about this software as you are, but jesus fuck, what does ANY of this mean? "I'm not makin' any sense of ANY of this.."

"I did tell you to wait.." Ted tilts his head at you with a knowing smirk, his brow perking up in a sort of 'I told you so' way.

"Okay--I didn't think you meant 'don't open the software', asshole. I.." You narrow your eyes at him, giving him a shaky huff. How were you supposed to know this software was going to look like...this?

"Okay okay, that's on me, it's alright.." Ted knows you don't mean to snap at him. You can see it in his eyes, he knows you're overwhelmed. He reaches up to lightly pet the top of your head in an attempt to calm you down. "I'll help you through it, alright? I'll talk y--not like that--but I'll talk you through it."

A soft smirk spreads along your lips, slightly leaning your head away from his hand. "Don't pet me, it's patronizing.." you comment in a sort of snarky tone, crinkling your nose at him.

"No it's not." Ted let's out a snort. "You're just still thinkin' about me talking you through it."

"Your words, not mine."

"Oh come on. You spend too much time on Tumblr."

"They've got some interesting shit to say about you!"

"I'm sure they do, now let's focus. M'kay? Phone down now. Tumblr thoughts go away."

"Stop talking to me like I'm 5."

"It's calmed you down, hasn't it?"

"....Alright--"

Getting rid of all other distractions, you fully focus on the screen in front of you, listening to Ted as he teaches you the basics of how this software works. He helps take your attention away from anything you won't be using and keeps you focused on what you already know from using your phone. You hate to say it, but the friendly little teaching tone he uses with you is...kinda helpful. You hate it, but it's helpful.

"So let's drop a video from a clip I made the other day. You're gonna go up to File, hover over Import...yep, and click Media."

"What's Pre-conformed EDL?" You cut in, tilting your head. "What's that supposed to--"

"Ah ah ah, doesn't matter. I don't even use it. Click Import. That's where we get the videos."

So that's what you do. You click Import, find the video clip and double click. It brings the clip into the box on the left, way up in the corner. Oh!

"Oh, so this is like...where you keep all the clips?" You ask, feeling like a light has clicked on in your head.

"Yeah, like if you had more than one." Ted replies with a gentle smile, giving you a nod. "Keeps everything organized.."

That actually makes sense.

"Now, if you want to edit a clip, you just draw it down here, where all these white dial lookin' things are..."

When you follow Ted's instructions, the clip that you had selected now shows up in the right box as well as showing the timeline at the bottom, just like how it would look in the editing app on your phone. It's starting to look exactly like you're used to! Even some of the buttons on the bottom are starting to look familiar. Cut, Edit, Color..

"Oh shit, wait, so...if I wanted to cut this..." You slide the timeliness over a few seconds ahead and right click, but you don't see an option to cut that part of the clip. You furrow your eyebrows and glance at Ted, quietly signaling him for help.

"What, are you trying to cut the clip? Like to turn it into two?" Ted asks, standing at bit closer to you to get a clearer look at the screen. "OK, so to do that, you click the scizzor icon over here, and then you'd right click what you want to delete.."

You follow his instructions once more, and it all happens just like he said it would. There's a little green line in the timeline showing exactly where you cut the clip, then you right click, delete the right clip, and boom. That easy. You let out an excited little gasp and wiggle your hands in joy. You're understanding now! You're getting it!

"There ya go! That's good!" Ted praises you with a single clap, shooting you a proud smile.

"Ok! Ok ok ok, I'm getting it.." you let out a thrilled little laugh, placing your hands back on the keyboard and mouse. "It's a few extra buttons, but I'm getting it.."

"Oh yeah, you get used to it, honestly." Ted admits with a little nod, fluffing up the front of his dark hair. "Eventually you can learn to use the keyboard's controls once you know how everything works; everything that you need, at least."

"Keyboard controls?" You turn to Ted, tilting your head a little.

"Like how you can use Alt F4 to close a page, or Control F to search for a word."

"Ohh! Oh that's cool!"

"I know! It is cool!"

Suddenly, something that was easily overwhelming you on your own has become fun with Ted's help. He guides you through every step of turning this one minute of gameplay into a proper clip. He teaches you how to separate game audio and microphone audio so you can hear his commentary clearer, he teaches you how you zoom in and out smoothly, how to add text and how to key frame in other photos and shots to emphasize a moment in the gameplay. Once he got you to focus on re-learning what you knew from your phone editing apps, you were able to ignore everything else in this software that confused you before and focus on what you've learned! You eventually get good enough to go ahead of Ted's instructions, clicking down on the timeline to cut a few seconds of silence from the game audio with relative ease.

"There ya go! And the clip is done!" Ted takes a step back and holds his arms out triumphantly, giving you a proud grin. "That's it! Now you just do that with all the clips you've got from your video! You did good!"

"That's crazy.." You smile back at Ted before looking at the monitor again, looking over the editing software that had overwhelmed you so much before. You still had a lot to learn, but you knew enough to be able to do most of the editing on your own without having to ask any new questions. You kinda hate to admit it, but Ted is a good teacher. He did goto film school, after all.

"Thank you." You turn your chair to face Ted, giving him a cute little bashful smile. You can tell he's proud of you. You're proud of yourself, too.

"Not a problem at all, babe.." Ted slips his hands into his loose pockets, giving a little shrug and a warm smile. "It was overwhelmin' for me too, everything new takes a little time to learn. I'm glad you were okay with me helping you. Makes me happy too."

You can't help yourself. You move up off of his chair so you can wrap your arms around him in a big hug, almost trapping his hands in his pockets with your tight grip. He let's out a gentle little chuckle, slipping his hands out of his pockets so he can return the hug, his long arms able to wrap around my whole body. He smells nice...

May I propose fun scenario, excuse the coming word vomit I am sleep deprived? Gep having been out in the Fragmentum for longer than usual, more casualties from a wave of em after disturbing areas further out in an effort to gather more resources.

Sampo, being the little creature he is, trails the guards when he can and sees Cap acting progressively more numb. You can only force compassion and energy when there's free time not being spent on trying not to die.

Shampoo gives him time to recover before initiating a chase only for Gepard to jus kinda break but in a walls up kinda way. Dude jus kinda shuts down cuz he can't bring himself to muster the drive to put effort into catching him and it shake him a bit.

One thing Sampo is very good at is tugging at that sense of justice in him (even if it isn't really aimed at Sampo) but he can't will even false care for his illegalities and it scares him because his sense of justice and protection are the only things keepin him runnin. Everyone runs outta juice eventually :3

ooheahhh.h oough god yeah... yeah like. tryin to arrest sampo is probably like.... an Escape from the horrors of the frontlines n the restricted zone. it really does pull at his sense of justice because like. Sampo's a criminal who needs to be apprehended, not some fragmentum monster that tears through guards or the corrupted fragmentum ridden bodies of his deceased guards. in the restricted zone or outside the city theres nothing but the fragmentum and its constant. Except when sampo shows up, either poking at gepard on purpose or getting caught pilfering their supplies or smuggling things into the city.

so for gepard to just.. not care about sampo poking around and being where he shouldnt. things must be REALLY bad.

gepard just. absolutely exhausted, the fragmentum not receding no matter how many monstrosities they destroy, yet his guards are getting more and more injured or worse. Gepard hasnt slept in days, cant even pretend to lay in bed and sleep. They're running out of supplies and ammunition, more guards are being sent back to the infirmary than there are coming to the frontlines as reinforcements, and gepard is just so fucking tired. theres bloodstains on his uniform from having to pull guards out from the claws of fragmentum he'd frozen still and having to staunch wounds on the battlefield. But like. what can he do? they cant give up, no matter how many of them die or if he dies. because if they do then theres nothing to keep the city safe from the fragmentum. so he has to just. bare it.

Sampo is trifling around in Gepards tent when gep catches him. he was technically looking for some supplies or any relics theyd confiscated or information on the silvermanes' supply chain but more than anything he was just trying to be a nuisance. and Gepard catches him. but instead of their usual cat and mouse game gepard just. doesnt care. he cant seem to be bothered. just tells sampo to get out and leaves.

and thats like. kinda horrifying for sampo? i mean this is the shield of belobog and he is too fatigued to care about this lowly criminal. but also its boring. theres no fun without a chase. sampo Likes gepards unwavering sense of justice and how he never seems to back down or falter. yet here he is going against the script. its uncanny

(maybe the next day, gepard warily finds that the fragmentum have finally, finally retreated from the restricted zone a bit. he doesnt want to get his hopes up but when patrolling all he can find is traces of the corrosion and only a few battered flame and frostspawns meandering around. he has no clue what has happened but its a moment of respite. after gepard assesses their supplies, the state of his silvermane guards, gets in touch with bronya and establishes a plan of action for automatons to come in as reinforcement, he goes back to his personal tent. Sampo is there again, but this time he's desperately trying to bandage the wounds the fragmentum left on him with gepard's medical supplies before he's found out.)

OKAY, yes i listen to lots of bands, and as of recent i’ve found myself wanting to project the themes of these songs onto geto so baddd, because sometimes i’ll just be listening to a song and it’ll all just click into place and it’ll physically pain me to at least not sketch up something 😭😭😭 i have a list at this point full of songs for potential satosugu animatic thingies

I’D LOVE TO RECC YOU SOME BANDS!!! I lean towards indie/alt, grunge rock bands but i can get pretty diverse, so it all just depends on what you enjoy listening to. Bands like Modest Mouse and Built to Spill have been getting me through life recently.

Built to Spill always has magical fucking guitar riffs, and you can just tell the guitarist is having fun with it. “Keep it like a Secret” is currently my favorite album from them, with songs like “You Were Right” and “Carry the Zero” being some of my favorites. There’s this song from their album called “Perfect from Now On” that I’ve been closely relating to Geto a LOT called “I Would Hurt a Fly”. WARNING!!! about to geek out about the lyrics in relation to Geto.

I Imagine “I can’t get that sound you make out of my head,” and so on would elude to the cultists all around them clapping as Geto enters the room, where Gojo stood there holding Riko in his arms. After the fact (post riko and toji and all that shit) I always loved the subtle details of something as inconsequential like rain pattering outside while he spoke to Yuki, sounding like clapping and then slowly shifting to the genuine sound of rainfall. Or that scene where he was taking a shower, contemplating his morality and reflecting on past events, the beads of water falling to the floor slowly shift into the sound of clapping. Like it’s all still constantly buzzing in his mind. Little details like that make me love Geto as a character and just how well written his descent into animosity was towards non-sorcerers.

Anyways sorry for the ramble, but def check that band out! If rough sounding voices is a turn-off for you when it comes to songs then you might now fw them, but this is also the same for my next recc,

MODEST MOUSE!! fucking love this band, i will unapologetically say that “Interstate 8” is a masterpiece. They’re also very rough sounding, which personally i really enjoy. Plus the lyricism is nuts, i love how things are put, especially with “Whenever You Breathe Out, I Breathe In”. It’s one of the more mellow songs, but then again i’d say that album is pretty mellow. I have “Edit the Sad Parts” right before in my playlist, and the song no joke has a couple of minutes of just absolute silence. And I won’t even notice music has stopped playing since I’m usually doing something while I listen, then “Whenever You Breathe Out, I Breathe In” will kick in and I’ll just feel the air punch out my lungs. Love that album so much.

There’s also this really underrated fucking band called “Stuck in the Sound”, I put their “Pursuit” album cover as one of Geto’s pins on his bag ❤️❤️ you might have seen the animation for their song “Let’s Go”, if you haven’t i HIGHLY recommend you watch it. The song SLAPS and got me hooked, I couldn’t stop watching the animation. “Let’s Go” is in the “Pursuit” album which houses some of my favorite songs from them such as “Criminal” which has such a nice sound to it, also a personal favorite “Silent and Sweet” which just hits different when you need a good cry. An all time favorite of mine is in their album “Nevermind the Living Dead” called “Toy Boy”. I used to just strum that song on my guitar til my fingers were sore all the time, it’s so nice to just scream that song out. I LOVE THIS BAND SM 10/10

Also been listening to Radiohead quite a bit recently, and “Black star” is about loving someone who’s mentally ill, I believe, and how you maybe be teetering along a fragile line constantly making sure another day passes by without any extreme conflict. And then the song depicts that person then separating from that love interest only to find themselves prone to the same emotional breakdowns. I thought the concept of that oddly fit well with satosugu if you think about how Geto defecting might have privately affected Gojo. I did a small animatic thing for that with Gojo after having to kill Geto!!!! I’ve mostly been listening to the album “The Bends”, has some hard hitters like “Just” or “Sulk”, I fw the guitar in “Planet Telex” a BUNCH. I ❤️ radiohead

ONE MORE I PROMISE. I’ve always been an all time Arctic Monkeys fan. Their discography is super diverse because they’ve been experimenting and changing a lot throughout the years!!! They go from garage band type rock, to alt rock, to pop, to lounge music type jazz?? I love each and every album. I used the song “Batphone” (personal favorite) for the most recent animatic thing I did, the guitar in it is so strong and cleverly inserted, i’ve always wanted to do something with that song. I started conceptualizing a storyboard with a song called “Secret Door” on their “Humbug” album (every song on there is a banger) that you saw on my instagram story (also an all time favorite)! I def recommend “Humbug”, “Favourite Worst Nightmare”, or “Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not” if you want to delve into their rock stuff, but if you’re feeling experimental DEFINITELY check out “Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino”. The album is always super hated on but it’s probably one of my favorites, super underrated. You’ve probably heard songs from their “AM” album like “R U Mine?” or “Why’d You Only Ever Call Me When You’re High?” since they got pretty popular, so if you like a mesh of both pop and rocky elements, check that out too!!!

ANWAYS SORRY FOR SUCH A RAMBLE. 3) My favorite joke to tell recently has been when anyone around me says literally anything but the word "powder" makes it into their sentence, I'll go "My sister said that once." So like when our roommate made instant mac and cheese with like that goopy already-a-cream cheese mixture she said "I think I prefer the powder" and I very excitedly went "MY SISTER SAID THAT ONCE!"

4) I've always kinda wanted to know what a mermaid would taste like. Are they more fishy, or do they taste more like human? Does it entirely depend on what part of the body the meat is from, and if that's the case, would it be ethical for humans to eat mermaid meat if it's only the tail? Is it only taboo to eat the human half? What kind of fish would they taste like, or do they have a whole new flavor palette of their own?

5) I'm gonna assume my whole shimmer-induced super speed doesn't count and go with maybe invisibility? It'd be nice to go unnoticed by people just in general, but I think it would've especially helped for the missions I went on for Silco and for avoiding the Enforcers. I was born first; fifteen minutes before Stanley to be exact. My mother would often tell me she wished she made me cry more. Not in a malicious way, for I was as quiet as a mouse, from my birth to my sixth birthday.

Now we never had twin telepathy, but he would often know what I wanted with just a look. Our Mother found it endearing and would exclaim that Stanley was her little telepath. Our father did not. Often scolding our mother for celebrating insignificant achievements.

Once Stan and I were old enough to go to kindergarten, that’s when father started disciplining me for being mute helping me speak. In his own tough guy way. Father would ignore me whenever I was in his presence, I do not see the vision as he usually did anyway. which did not change much. So he made my mother give me less attention. She stopped waiting for us at the door when we came back from school, with our fresh scrapes and bruises from either rough housing or bullies. I did not react much to the change, as I thought mom had better, more important things to attend to. Stanley did not take the change well. He would always proclaim his entrance, something along the lines of ‘Your bundles of joy are home!’ or ‘Your entertainment is back!’

Mother would be by the window with her back facing us and would wince when Stan would jump and hug her real tight. Usually she and Stanley would start engaging in conversation, while I would just take in their colorful stories, but she, more often than not, started giving excuses to Stan, and told him to chat with me in our room for a while. I wonder if Stanley ever saw the bruises that she hid.

Mother would still make dinner though, but would eat in her room as ‘she wasn’t feeling well’. So it ended up being my father, Stan and I at the dinner table, most nights. One particular night, we ended up eating chicken. I never liked the feeling of chicken skin and as usual, I’d give my brother all the food I could not stomach. Father did not like that, slamming his fork on the table, making me and my brother flinch, dropping the skin on the floor.

“Stanford! I’ve dealt with your idiotic habits long enough! First you don’t speak, then your mother spouts some nonsense about ‘Asperger’s’ and now you're wasting your food! Pick that skin up and eat it, now!”

Stan started to defend me, “Pa, I don’t mi-”

Father slammed his hand on the table again, cutting off my brother, “God, you’re just like your mother. Do you want to be hit too? Now stop rocking that chair before I give you something to talk about. ” Stan flinched, stilling and started to chew his lip.

I ended up eating the skin, we ate in silence and I ate the most chicken skin I have ever had before. After dinner, I threw up all that I ate while Stan sat on the rim of the bathtub, kicking his feet and being uncharacteristically quiet. Stanley ended up in my bunk that night. It's been almost 4 months since this blog launched and I introduced my portrayal of this really kickass mutant named Illyana Rasputina... better known as Magik; while I've had a good time in some threads and met some really nice people, I also feel detached and want to make some changes in hopes of reigniting that spark.

FOR ALL TIME . . . (THREADS)

Effective immediately, I am going to be pruning all timeline(s) (threads) and start from scratch... however, this does not mean that any previously discussed dynamics, ships, plot points, etc. cannot be rehashed in the new timeline(s) going forward; consider it a fresh start for the both of us: my end allowing me to approaching things from a different angle, and your end preventing you from waiting on me to reply to something months old at this point.

This extends to the inbox, which I am pretty good about keeping empty surprisingly... however there are a few items still sitting in there, those will also be pruned.

Want a plot/ship/dynamic/etc to carry over? Reach out, we can hash out the details together.

TL;DR: Consider all threads rebooted, if you want a ship/dynamic/plot point to carry over into the new timeline(s), just reach out to me and we can work it out.

I have a lot of people following this blog, and I follow a lot of them back... seems awesome, right? While I am grateful for the high number... I also cannot help but point out the lack of interest that number spawns.

I completely sympathize with being anti-social, or being scared to approach, I too have had those flaws in the past... but that makes it really hard for us to do anything, and I want to write and craft stories... so any means to make that easier or more frequent is a course I am willing to take. Please note that I hold NOTHING against any of you for being on the more mouse-ish side.

With this larger scale changes I will also be implementing some smaller scale tweaks to my portrayal of Illyana, give the length of this post and the relative minor nature of them? I will post a bullet point list below:

New faceclaim going forward shall be Ivanna Sakhno (shoutout to @aliashawket for making the gif pack that inspired this change)

Illyana will have a pet cat named Chicot, he's a Black Furred Maine Coon birthed from the flames of Limbo... so needless to say he has a mischievous side to him (also has a demonic form, just like his human momma).

The only character besides her that will ever be allowed to touch her Soul Sword is Jubilee; even if we are writing a romance, Jubilee is the only other character that gets to hold my Illyana's sword without turning into hellish ash.

Illyana must travel to Limbo once a week to fulfill her duties as queen, this happens every Sunday. If she misses a day, who knows if the hordes looming in Limbo will start an uprising?

To coincide with the face claim change, Illyana will no long be from Siberia but instead from Ukraine because I respect and applaud Ivanna's anti-russia stance

My reasons for voting against it: My feeling is that tennisblr is already more divided than ever and giving people a platform to publish “controversial” takes they aren’t willing to put their name on, is the last thing this place needs. I know you believe you can moderate it, but people will likely still veil their attacks on the players they don’t like and that can be hard to see through. And/or controversial takes will start discourses that could quickly spiral into something worse. I know a lot of people have migrated here from other platforms precisely because they wanted to get away from that type of stuff.

From my perspective we all already made jokes and sillyposts that can sound mean to outsiders so I don't really think it'd be that different if it was anon or not. It's true maybe I'd miss one that wasn't meant in jest but that's kind of true for any post. I get that bc it's anon there's no one to have take accountability, but there's a point where we're all somewhat anonymous anyway. Any one of us at any point could say something crazy then deactivate and just make a new blog. Or make a burner. If someone really wanted to say something heinous they could whether I provide this platform or not.

I will say, I know many people come to tumblr to get away from discourse in their fandoms that permeates other platforms but its not like discourse doesn't exist on tumblr, and I don't think it's necessarily fair to expect me to not open my blog up for more serious discussions if I want. Again, I will clarify that when I say discourse, the discussions I would allow would be informed, calm, and most importantly sourced- im not interested in petty gossip. There is a place on this platform for serious discussions and I am prepared to moderate my posts so it doesn't start to spiral. Maybe I'll only post them once a month or something like that too so the mood isn't always being dragged down.

When I make serious posts I am generally open to discussion, especially since I know i have blindspots. It's me wanting to start a conversation. The invitation for serious confessionals it's just me asking if anyone else wants to start that conversation first.

This blog is my only (public) interaction with the tennis fandom, I am not on twitter or reddit at all, i don't particularly interact with tennis fan content on instagram. This is the only place I talk about tennis with other tennis fans. Sometimes that includes serious discussions. I've made a couple serious posts, so it's not like it's totally out of character for this blog, and i do try to be as diligent as possible so people who do not want to see that content do not have to. I always employ read mores and tags for blocklists and my blog tag for serious posts. The same would go for these confessional posts.

I recognise that I have pretty good interaction here and a decent number of followers, so my posts would generally end up on many people's dashes. I know that my posts don't exist in a vacuum. i'm particularly interested in the choice behind the song made by The Mars Volta. it was my favorite one. something about the formatting of the song-- the gradual introduction, the climax, the continued high energy that causes it to end almost abruptly-- it's... just very neat. and weirdly... personal.. reminds me of "Mercury" by Steve Lacy. or "Vent på mig" by Peter Frodin and Jimmy Jørgensen. all very seraphic..

the others are just as nice as well. my second favorite would also be our 'together song'. it's just... neat. thank you for sharing them with us.

i'm not great at picking songs that remind me of people, but since i've gotten the privilege of getting to know you better, i can say that there are two songs that i associate with your essence: "Ugly Story" by Phemiec and "Never Love an Anchor" by The Crane Wives. i can't pinpoint why, but something about both their use of instrumentals reminds me of you. maybe you can find something nice in them too.
